The Blues Win Bronze
For the first time in school history the Capilano Blues win PACWEST bronze
The Capilano Blues win their first ever PACWEST bronze medal and first hardware since 2013 after a three set sweep over the Douglas Royals on Saturday.
The Blues had a balanced attack led by Justin Yee and his eight kills and four blocks. Both Markiel Simpson and Zarley Zalusky each had six kills and Zalusky added three blocks. Simon Friesen was named the Player of the Match with 26 assists, four digs, three kills and a stuff block.
The win also gives rookie head coach Dave Dooley his first PACWEST medal as a coach.
The top ranked Royals struggled to find an offensive flow for the second straight day. Reid Marriott led all attackers with 12 kills and also tallied an ace and four digs. Rookie Max Haronga was named the Player of the Match with nine kills, two aces and three blocks.
