Down 2-0 the Blues come back to win in five
What a way to start the 2019 PACWEST volleyball championship as the UFV Cascades and Capilano Blues go the distance and decide a berth in the semi-final. When the dust settled the Blues come back and win 3-2 in five sets.
After the Cascades jumped out to a 2-0 lead the Blues started to battle back and won the third set 25-21, which shifted momentum. They won the fourth set 25-21 to force a fifth set. In the final frame both teams battled hard and the Blues scored the 18-16 victory to punch their ticket to the semis.
Meghan Koven led the attack and was named Player of the Match with a match high 16 points. Isabela Lima was also outstanding with 13 kills while Sarah Curleigh came off the bench for seven kills. “We just believed in ourselves” said Kovan post game.
On the losing end the Cascades saw Amanda Matsui lead them with 14 kills. In her final match Kim Bauder was terrific with 11 kills. With the loss the Cascades season comes to a close.
The Blues will now play the top seeded VIU Mariners in Friday's semi-final.
