The Vancouver Island University (VIU) Nanaimo Campus, located on a spectacular 110 acre site on the lower slopes of Mount Benson, overlooking the city of Nanaimo, Georgia Strait, and the Coast Mountains on the B.C Mainland. VIU is situated on the traditional territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, and is fortunate to host a large number of Aboriginal students.

VIU Mariners home course is the spectacular Nanaimo Golf Club, proud to be hosting the 2018 PACWEST Golf Championships. 

Nanaimo Golf Club is a well reknowned and highly respected semi-private golf course in the heart of Vancouver Island.



Located on a ridge above Departure Bay in Nanaimo BC, Nanaimo Golf Club features beautiful ocean views, tall evergreens, majestic willow and maple trees, and a temperate climate so comfortable, you can play here all year round. The superb course design and exceptional course conditioning have earned Nanaimo Golf Club the reputation for being the best all-season golf course on Vancouver Island.



The clubhouse, newly rebuilt in 2013, features two full dining lounges and a banquet hall, each with their own patio overlooking the 18th green, Departure Bay and beyond that, the Coastal Mountains on the mainland. The locker rooms are easily the best looking on the whole island, with maple-finished lockers.
 The building was named the winner of the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board 2014 Commercial Division Award of Excellence–Hospitality and Judges Choice Award for the best new commercial building of the year.

The Awards will be handed out at the course immediately after play.

Grievance/Protest Committee

We will have 2 BC GOLF rules officials on course for all three days and they will make up the grievance committee if needed along with the PACWEST Golf Convenor. 

Coaches Conference Call

The Coaches Conference Call will take place on Friday morning at 11am.  All coaches and the convenor and the rules officials will be in attendance.

IMPORTANT NOTE: There is NO direct access to Highland Blvd if you are travelling north on Island Highway. You MUST turn right onto Departure Bay Road, left onto Montrose Ave, and right again onto Highland Blvd to reach us.

If you are travelling south on Island Highway, turn left onto Highland Blvd (the turn for Dorman Rd is on the right) and then, at the first driveway on the left, turn into the club.
