Blues Pressure Too Much
The Capilano Blues advance with a lopsided quarterfinal win on Thursday
Capilano Blues 77
Langara Falcons 51
Consistent pressure and outstanding zone play defensively was the tail of the tape on Friday as the Capilano Blues beat the Langara Falcons in a lopsided final to punch their ticket to semis.
On the offensive side the shot 39% from the field led by PACWEST Rookie of the Year Mia Parkin who led all scorers with 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and was named Player of the Game. Madeleine Coffin was also outstanding, dropping 17 points and set the tone early with 10 points in the first quarter.
The Falcons found it difficult to break the Blues press spending a lot of time in their own end particularly in the first half. They shot 26% in the game and Reegan Bond was named the Player of the Game dropping a team high 10 points.
With the win the Blues avenge a pair of losses to the Falcons on their home floor late in the regular season and advance to meet the VIU Mariners in the semifinals on Friday night.
