The Blues Are Champs

For the first time since 2011 the Capilano Blues are PACWEST champions with a 75-70 victory over the Camosun Chargers on Saturday night.

The Blues shot 47% from the field and rode the back of tournament MVP Carmelle M’Bikata who dropped 26 points and collected 16 rebounds and was named the player of the game. Emma Cunningham was also solid setting the pace with six points in the first quarter. She finished with 16 and five boards. Ashley dela Cruz Yip in her final PACWEST game scored 16 and had nine rebounds.

After an upset win over the Douglas Royals on Friday the Chargers came out cold and were outscored 14-3 in the second quarter. However as the game went on their shooters started to heat up as they finished the fourth quarter outscoring the Blues 36-26. Aija Salvador hit four-three pointers in the fourth quarter and finished with 16 points. Mia Roberts dropped a team high 17 points and Ella Goldschmid was named the player of the game.
