Event Information
The Mariners call home the Vancouver Island University (VIU) Nanaimo Campus, located on a spectacular 110 acre site on the lower slopes of Mount Benson, overlooking the city of Nanaimo, Georgia Strait, and the Coast Mountains on the B.C Mainland. VIU is situated on the traditional territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, and is fortunate to host a large number of Aboriginal students.
Vancouver Island University is a proud member of the PACWEST and the CCAA. Mariner Athletics has gained a reputation for excellence and exciting competition. VIU competes for the PACWEST Aggregate award for top overall program in the conference and has won this award for the past 11 years!

Coaches & Officials Lounge
Throughout the tournament there will be a lounge available located upstairs in the weight room. This space will provide coaches and officials the opportunity to relax between games. Refreshments and snacks will be provided.
Concession
A concession will be operating near the front entrance of the gym for the duration of the tournament. The concession will include various snacks (fruit, pizza, candy bars, & chips) and beverages (water, PowerAde, & soda).

During Tournament
During the event, daily press releases will be posted on the tournament website as well as on all relevant social media platforms. Results will also be sent to the local media.

Admission to Games
Coaches, Managers, and Team Officials will receive VIP Passes. All others are expected to pay. Athletes participating in the tournament are granted access to all matches free of charge. Please remind your athletes to wear team gear for easier identification at the door.

Practice Times
Teams interested in a Wednesday practice slot will receive 45 minutes on the feature court at VIU. The practice schedule will be developed according to team arrival times and specific team requests.

Awards
The Bronze Medal Awards Ceremony will take place after each respective bronze medal match.
The Gold Medal Award Ceremony will also take place immediately following each respective gold medal match. The following awards will be handed out after each respective gold medal game:

• Gold Medals
• Championship Banner / Trophy / T-Shirts
Athletic Therapy
Therapy will be available for use during the tournament. Teams are required to supply your own medical supplies.
A certified Athletic Therapist will be on site from Island Optimal Health & Performance.
Team Rooms
All teams will have access to a change room before and after each match (Room 115 & 208). The assigned rooms will be marked with team names/logos. Teams will have access to their assigned room 1 hour prior to their match. Teams must remove belongings from the room prior to the start of the match.
Uniforms
The higher team for each game will be designated as the HOME team and will wear the light colored uniforms. The lower seed will wear the darker colored uniforms.
Game Video
All games will be recorded by VIU athletic department staff. Coaches must supply their own USB stick to receive a copy of the game. Please note that games will also be uploaded to Krossover ASAP.
Game Stats
VIU score table will provide copies at half time and at the end of the game or each team.
Grievance/Protest Committee
As per the PACWEST policy; the head official, PACWEST Basketball Conveners or designate (Scott Cuachon, Carly Scarr), and a PACWEST Executive Committee member will comprise the committee. A copy of the Grievance/Protest procedures will be provided at the Coaches’ Meeting.
Coaches Conference Call
The Coaches Conference Call will take place on Monday, February 26th at 7pm. All teams are required to have a representative present on the call. The number to call and agenda will be circulated one week prior to the call set a date.
Laundry Services
Laundry service is available upon request for uniforms only. Uniforms must be dropped off in a laundry bag with a Laundry Services Form completed. Laundry Services Forms will be available at the front desk.
Towel Service
Team towel service will be provided. Only team staff can make arrangements for this service. Please have a team manager or coach come to the gym front desk and ask to arrange for towel service. Please return towels to the front desk when finished in the laundry bag/bin provided. Please do not leave towels in the change rooms.
Parking
Free parking for busses and university vehicles will be provided in “lots S and R” off of Fourth Street, barricades will be in place indicating the designated area.
Photographs
Photos will be taken throughout the tournament by Northfield Photography (https://northfieldphoto.smugmug.com/). Photos will be posted on the Championship website

To connect to guest wifi on campus:
- Select viu-guest from your list of available wireless networks.
- Open a browser and attempt to go somewhere on the internet, and you should be redirected to the viu-guest Login page.
- If you already have an account that has not expired enter it below, otherwise select the Create Account button.
- Fill in the form on the page with the requested information.
Note: If you are not visiting on company business, please put Visitor in the company name field. - Once you have registered you will be given your account username and guest password, a copy of these credentials will be sent to the email address you supply on the form.
Important: your account will expire in 4 hours, if you get disconnected during this time you can use your credentials to re-connect. - Click the Log In button to finish the connection process. You should now be connected to viu-guest network.
