Following yesterday’s rainout at Swangard Stadium the Falcons travel to Nanaimo to meet the Mariners in an extremely important game to help determine the playoff picture.
Currently the Mariners hold a three-point lead over the Falcons in the standings with just three games to play. In their last meeting the teams tied 2-2. Cara Dunlop scored twice for the defending champs while Nadia Bigiolli and Rachel Barker countered for the Falcons. As a matter of fact the only Mariners win they have recorded this season was a 5-0 shutout of the Falcons in Week 1.
This will be the last time this regular season the Mariners and Falcons meet.
Capilano Blues (4-0-1) @ Douglas Royals (4-1-1) – Sunday October 17, 12:00pm – Cunnings Field | WATCH HERE
After the rain out on Saturday the Blues and Royals meet in a first place showdown as both teams have 13 points, but the Blues have a game in hand.
In their last meeting on October 2nd, the Blues cruised to a 3-0 shutout victory behind goals from Claire Ye, Alanah Dulong and Kayla Campbell. Meanwhile Sabrina Lam made three saves to earn the clean sheet.
The two teams actually tied 2-2 in their first meeting last month when Catrina Olstrom and Campbell scored for the Blues and Alicia Skirzyk and Jessica Parks answered for the Royals.
Sunday afternoon is the final meeting of the season and is a massive game as it could determine who earns the playoff bye into the gold medal game.
