Women's Bronze Medal Match
The Douglas Royals meet the Camosun Chargers
#2 Douglas Royals vs. #4 Camosun Chargers – Saturday February 24, 1:00pm | WATCH HERE
The Royals and Chargers open championship Saturday at the PACWEST volleyball championship tournament as the two schools battle for bronze.
On Friday evening, the favoured Royals dropped their semi-final tilt to the Capilano Blues in four sets while the Chargers lost a five-set heartbreaker to the VIU Mariners.
Over the course of the regular season these two schools met four times and split the seasonal series two wins a piece. In late November the Chargers held serve at home and beat the Royals in a pair of four-set matches. Then just last week the Royals hosted the Chargers and beat them in four and three sets respectively.
The bronze medal match is arguably one of the most difficult matches to prepare for after suffering a loss the day before. Both teams are hoping to end their season on a high with a victory and a PACWEST medal.
They met last year in the semifinals which saw the Chargers advance in three-straight sets and would eventually go on to win gold. The Royals ended last year with the bronze.
In 2022 they also met in a semifinal with the Royals winning in three straight and would go on to win a PACWEST gold medal. The Chargers rebounded after that loss and won bronze.
