Royals To Play For Gold
After a three-set sweep in the semi-final the Royals will play for gold
The Douglas Royals advance to the gold medal match after a dominating three-set sweep over the Camosun Chargers in a women’s semi-final on Friday. They claimed set wins of 25-20, 25-14, 25-20.
With the victory the Royals have also punched their ticket to the CCAA national championship in PEI next month as the PACWEST will send two representatives.
On Friday the Royals showed a very balanced offence that confused the Chargers led by veteran setter Jane Kepler who quarterbacked her team to victory. Lauren Attieh collected five kills as did Grace McGillivray while Ava Bosa added five. On the defensive side the Royals blocking scheme was too much as Kepler, Abbie Smith and Olivia Cesaretti recorded several blocks.
Ryan Watters talked with Royals head coach Jeff Ross.
