Falcons Outlast Chargers
It took double overtime but the Langara Falcons win PACWEST bronze
It took double overtime, but the Langara Falcons are PACWEST bronze medalists after an incredible 113-107 win over the Camosun Chargers.
With the Falcons in front by three with just three seconds left Jake Wilmott of the Chargers beat the buzzer with a bank shot from behind the arch to tie it and send it to overtime. Then with the score tied the Chargers had a chance to win it at the end of the first overtime session but missed a layup which sent the game to double overtime. In the second overtime the Falcons pulled away and would eventually end the game.
Point guard Royce Sargeant was outstanding with a game high 39 points, 17 of which came in the third quarter. AJ Chahal added 20 while Chance Samuel collected 16 and Allayasa Bray had 14 in the victory as the Falcons shot 42.7%.
The Chargers leave the championship empty handed after shooting 37.3% from the field led by Madhu McConnell and his 21 points. Josh Charles was terrific coming off the bench and scored 18 points, most of which in the first half and Takeshi Croke finished with 17 second half points.
The Falcons win their first PACWEST medal since 2018 which was also a bronze.
