The Okanagan Coyotes host the Douglas Royals as the regular season closes

The PACWEST regular season will wrap up today as the Royals and Coyotes square off in the finale. Last night the Coyotes dominated in a 92-58 victory and have clinched third place in the standings with their 10th win of the season.
Offensively they shot 46% from the field with leading scorer Jordan Kemper recording a game high 25 points and 10 rebounds. Natasha Alfonso was also solid with 18 points and Paloma Niz Velazquez added 14 coming off the bench.
With the win the Coyotes secure third place and will open the PACWEST championship tournament on Thursday with a quarterfinal tilt with the sixth seeded Langara Falcons.
The Royals found it difficult to get to the hoop on Friday night shooting 34% from the field with Jenessa Knapp scoring 11 points in the loss. With the setback the Royals will finish fourth and will meet the Camosun Chargers in Thursday’s quarterfinal at the championship tournament.

This will be the final regular season PACWEST basketball game when the Royals visit the Coyotes for the second straight night.
Last night the Royals recorded a 96-86 victory in Kelowna against a shorthanded Coyotes roster as their offence shot 49%. Ehi Obetoh tallied a team high 22 points and Johnson Corez added 19 snapping their two game losing streak. The win was their fifth of the season and clinches fifth place in the standings setting up a quarterfinal date with the Langara Falcons on Thursday.
The Coyotes had only eight players dress on Friday night and were missing the PACWEST’s leading scorer Omon Edobar and their top rebounder in Seth Blundell. They shot 46.5% from the field and Ajay Gill led all scorers with a game high 26 points. Despite the loss the Coyotes still clinch the final playoff spot setting up a quarterfinal date with the Capilano Blues on Thursday night.
