PACWEST Aggregate Champs
The VIU Mariners accumulate enough seasonal points to be crowned the champs
The PACWEST Aggregate Championship Trophy is awarded each year to the institution with the most accumulated points by each of the teams they field over the course of the competitive season.
Points are determined by the number of teams in a selected sport. For example there are seven teams playing in women’s basketball. The institution that finishes in first place during the regular season receives seven points. The second place team receives six points and so on. The institution that finishes with the PACWEST gold medal receives six additional points, followed by four points for the silver medalists and two for the bronze.
The points for each of the sports the PACWEST currently competes in, basketball, volleyball, soccer and golf are then combined to give an institution a total amount of points.
Without a doubt the winner of the Aggregate Trophy is the Vancouver Island University (VIU) Mariners after an outstanding season across all sports. VIU competed in six PACWEST sports and collected 52 points.
The Mariners received first place points in women’s and men's basketball and volleyball along with third place votes in women's and men's soccer.
During the PACWEST Championships the Mariners scored points in five of their six teams.
The Douglas Royals scored the second highest point total this season, collecting 42 total points, with the Capilano Blues finishing third with 30 points.
