Female Basketball Athlete of the Week
Amber Lease – VIU Mariners
She was all over the court this weekend for the Mariners as they captured a pair of victories against Island rival Camosun. On the road Friday, she collected 16 points, hauling in six defensive rebounds, dishing out eight assists, to go along with three steals. Then at home on Saturday she took her game to another level in leading the top seeded Mariners to a convincing win. She had 21 points, to go along with seven rebounds, six assists, and four steals.
Male Basketball Athlete of the Week
Christian Williams – Okanagan Coyotes
Williams played above the rim in two big road wins at Capilano University. On Friday he grabbed 21 rebounds and contributed 28 points. Then on Saturday he continued his big weekend by putting up a triple double, pulling down an impressive 22 rebounds, had 17 points along with an impressive 10 assists in helping the Coyotes win back to back games for just the second time all year.
