Women's Week 12 Volleyball Preview

This coming weekend the Mariners and Royals square off in women’s PACWEST volleyball action as they meet for the second weekend doubleheader this season.

The Mariners have been rolling with a 13-match winning streak which includes four straight courtesy of a three-set sweep.  As a matter of fact, they haven’t dropped a set since January 11^th.   They also didn’t drop a set to the Royals in their meeting at VIU at the end of November, winning the doubleheaders with a pair of 3-0 sweeps.

Speaking of the Royals they are tied of the final playoff spot with the CBC Bearcats with four matches to go and hold the tiebreaker.  This is their final home weekend as they’ll finish the regular season at COTR.

If the playoffs started today, this would be a semi-final match-up.

These two schools will meet again on Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm.

CBC Bearcats @ Capilano Blues – Friday February 7, 6:00pm | WATCH HERE

The Bearcats and Blues meet for the second time this season with important points in the standings on the line. 

Coming into the weekend the Blues are two points up on the idle Camosun Chargers for second-place in the standings and have two matches in hand.  A weekend sweep would all but clinch the second seed before the PACWEST championship in two weeks.  That said, it looking more and more like the Blues and Chargers will meet in a semi-final regardless of the final four matches.

Points this weekend are a bit more important for the Bearcats currently tied with the Douglas Royals for the final playoff spot, but the Royals own the tiebreaker after winning the seasonal series 3-1.  The Bearcats need to win their final four matches and get some help to qualify for the postseason.  They are coming off a bye so should be well rested to meet the Blues, a team they split their first meeting against back in November.

Saturday afternoon these schools will meet for the final time this regular season at 5:00pm.
