Mariners Entertain Avalanche
Week 11 opens up in Nanaimo with this lone match
COTR Avalanche @ VIU Mariners – Thursday January 30, 6:00pm | WATCH HERE
Week 11 of the PACWEST volleyball season is a light menu…unless you play for the COTR Avalanche.
The Avalanche begin four matches in four nights on Thursday when they visit the VIU Mariners in the only action across the Conference. They will face the Mariners again on Friday before making a stop at Camosun on Saturday and Sunday to face the Chargers.
The Mariners (13-1) are the top team in the PACWEST and second overall in the CCAA rankings. They have won 11 straight matches and have clinched a postseason spot, which will be hosted on their home floor near the end of February. This will be the second meeting of the season with the Avalanche after they opened the season at COTR in October and won in five and three sets respectively.
On the other hand, the Avalanche (4-10) need to win their remaining six matches to have any hope of making the playoffs. They have lost three straight and are two points out of the final playoff spot as they make the long bus ride to the island. They will finish the year hosting the Douglas Royals (5-11), one of the teams they are chasing for the final berth in the postseason.
These schools meet again on Friday at 6:00pm at VIU as the only match across the Conference.
