Women's Volleyball Spike Night
The Blues and Royals win on Friday night
Capilano Blues 3
Camosun Chargers 0
The Blues claimed their eighth straight win with an impressive sweep over the visiting Chargers on Friday night.
They would claim the first two sets by identical scores of 25-20 to take a commanding lead in the match. The Chargers did punch back a bit in the third, but the Blues continued to pour it on and completed the sweep winning 25-23.
The win gives the Blues a four-point lead for second place in the standings and now six points back of the Conference leading and idle VIU Mariners.
On Saturday afternoon these schools meet again in what could be a playoff preview at 1:00pm. WATCH HERE
Douglas Royals 3
CBC Bearcats 2
What a match between the Royals and Bearcats on Friday night at CBC. The Royals would eventually claim their second win in their last three matches, but they needed to work and find another gear to do so.
The visiting Royals took the first set 25-22, before the Bearcats roared back in the second set to tie it with a 25-23 victory.
The third set was ridiculously exciting and needed extra points to decide. Eventually after the teams traded point after point, the Bearcats would end the set with a 33-31 victory to take control of the match.
However, that marathon must have allowed the Royals to hit a different level because they would come back in the fourth and take it 25-22 to force a fifth and deciding set. Like the other four sets, the fifth was just as tight as the schools went back and forth before the Royals would finally complete the comeback and win 15-12.
Not only was this the Royals fifth win of the season, but they now own the tiebreaker over the Bearcats regardless of what happens on Saturday with both schools fighting for the final playoff spot. They will meet on Saturday at 5:00pm in their final meeting of the season. WATCH HERE
