The Mariners, Blues and Bearcats win on Saturday

The top ranked Mariners continued to roll on Saturday afternoon with a convincing four set win over their island rivals, completing the weekend sweep.
They jumped out quickly, winning the first two sets 25-20 and 25-23, before the Chargers attempted to mount a comeback. In the third they showed some fight winning the set 25-23 cutting the Mariner lead in half. That momentum however didn’t last long as the home side stormed back in the fourth winning 25-16 and earning their 11th match of the season.
Following the weekend sweep the Chargers fall into a second-place tie and trail the Mariners by eight points in the standings.
Next weekend the Mariners (11-1) visit the CBC Bearcats (4-8) and the Chargers (7-5) welcome the Douglas Royals (3-9).

The Blues move into a second-place tie in the PACWEST standings after earning a four-set win over the hometown Royals on Saturday and complete the weekend sweep.
In the first set the visiting Blues continued their hot streak and scored a 25-19 victory. The Royals finally gave their fans something to cheer about and took the second set 25-22, winning their first and only set of the weekend.
The Blues continued their gritty road match and captured the third set 25-15 to take momentum, before winning their seventh of the season with a 25-20 set win in the fourth. It’s their fifth win in a row.
Next weekend the Blues (7-5) visit the COTR Avalanche (4-8) and the Royals (3-9) head to the island to meet the Camosun Chargers (7-5).

After falling in a five-set thriller on Friday, the Bearcats bounced back on Saturday and stopped the Avalanche in four-sets.
The Bearcats captured the first set 25-21, before the Avalanche came right back in the second with a dominating 25-12 victory to split the match.
Despite the lopsided setback, the Bearcats stuck to their game plan and came right back in the third set winning 25-21 before taking down the home side in the fourth set 25-19. It was their fourth win of the campaign and snapped a four-game losing streak.
Next weekend the Bearcats (4-8) entertain the top ranked VIU Mariners (11-1) while the Avalanche (4-8) host the Capilano Blues (7-5).
