The Mariners, Blues and Royals win on Friday night Spike Night

The top two teams in the PACWEST went toe-to-toe on Friday night to open the second half of the women’s season and this turned into a classic.
The teams traded blows in the first two sets with the Mariners winning the first 25-19 before the Chargers coming right back winning a close 25-23. In the third set the points went back and forth as both schools tried to win the advantage, and, in the end, it was the hometown Marines taking a 25-22 victory.
That momentum didn’t last long as the visiting Chargers stormed right back to take the fourth set 25-15 to force a winner take all fifth. The decisive set was nothing short of entering with athletes playing hard on both sides of the net. After the teams switched sides, the Mariners opened a lead and would hold on hold for a 15-11 victory to earn their eighth straight win.

Douglas Royals 0
The Blues and Royals opened the second half of the season on Friday night in what turned into a lopsided victory for the visiting Blues.
The first set was a competitive one with points going back and forth before the visitors earning a 25-23 win to take advantage in the first set. The Blues continued to roll in the second winning 25-19 not allowing the Royals to really find their rhythm. Then in the third the Blues struck when the iron was hot and dominated the set 25-9 opening the second half with a bang and winning their fourth straight.
Congratulations, it’s the first PACWEST win for new head coach Sue Soolsma. The rematch is set for Saturday at 5:00pm. WATCH HERE.
COTR Avalanche 3
CBC Bearcats 2
The fans in Cranbrook were treated to a beauty on Friday night as the Avalanche and Bearcats battled hard in a five-set thriller as both schools opened the second half of the season.
The hometown Avs opened the first set with a highly competitive 25-21 victory, but the Bearcats came right back with a solid 25-21 win of their own to even the match.
Riding that momentum, the Bearcats dominated the third set, winning 25-10 and looked in control, but hang on! The Avs used the buzz from the crowd to turn the tides in the fourth winning 25-21 and forced a fifth set. Points would go back and forth in the final set before the Avalanche took advantage of some breathing room and won 16-14 snaping their three-game slide. Oddly enough, the last time these two schools met for a weekend doubleheader, the Avalanche also won in a fifth set on the Friday night.
The rematch is set for Saturday afternoon at 4:00pm MST. WATCH HERE
