A Royal Semi-Final
The Douglas Royals meet The King's Eagles on Friday
After a three-set sweep over the Ontario champion Fanshawe Falcons, the Douglas Royals have moved onto the semi-final on Friday.
In the quarterfinal on Thursday the Falcons had no answer for PACWEST First Team All-Star Vania Oliveira. She tallied a match high 18 kills along with five digs and two blocks. Cait McCorkell also produced nine kills and six digs. Setter Jane Kepler was named the Player of the Match with 22 assists.
They move onto the semis to face the ACAC champion, The King’s Eagles from Edmonton who snuck by the MSVU Mystics on Thursday in five sets. Anna Janzen led them with 28 kills and was named the Player of the Match. Jayden Bontkes also played a major role with 22 kills and setter Jada Lea recorded 49 assists, two kills and eight digs.
It’ll be the first ever meeting between these two schools.
The first serve will fly at 3:00pm PST with the winner playing for national gold.
