The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association is proud to announce the 2019 CCAA Women’s Volleyball All-Canadians from the PACWEST.
The student-athletes, who are selected by their conference based on performance and contribution to the sport and their team, were honoured at a banquet during the 2019 CCAA Women’s Volleyball National Championship, hosted by Niagara College in Welland, ON on Wednesday.
Karoline Tormena
VIU Mariners
The PACWEST Player of the Year led the Mariners to a 23-1 record and first-overall finish in the conference. In her first season with VIU, Tormena led the PACWEST with 3.9 points per set and 3.11 kills per set. She can take over a match and leads the team by example, bringing her strong work ethic to games as well as practice. Tormena is always eager to assist with local youth volleyball programs.
Vania Silva dos Santos de Oliveira
Douglas Royals
Oliveira led the Royals to an 18-6 record and second-place finish in the PACWEST. She ranked second in the conference in hitting percentage and third with 2.73 kills per set. The third-year outside hitter was also among the league leaders in points and blocks. A two-time CCAA All-Canadian, Oliveira is quiet and unassuming, yet very competitive and driven. She has embraced Douglas’ team-first concept, which has allowed younger players an opportunity to develop and grow.
