VIU Mariners vs Aigles d’Ahuntsic – Thursday November 6, 4:30pm PST

After an exciting 1-0 win over the host Red Deer Queens on Wednesday in the women’s CCAA quarterfinals, the VIU Mariners will play in a national semifinal on Thursday.

On Wednesday evening PACWEST women’s soccer Athlete of the Year Jada Kamerman scored the game’s lone goal in the 69^th minute on a high rising shot on the right side.  On the other end keeper Kaiden Thorpe made five saves to earn the clean sheet and veteran Jade Dillabough was named the Player of the Game.

Thursday afternoon the Mariners will meet the Aigles d’Ahuntsic, the champions from the RSEQ.  In their quarterfinal on Wednesday, they scored five times and smoked the Brandon Bobcats 5-1 with five different goal scorers. They also peppered the Bobcats net with 18 shots.  This will be another big test of the Mariners backline and for Thorpe who is expected to see plenty of shots directed her way.

The winner of this game will advance to the gold medal game scheduled for Saturday while the loser will move to the bronze side of the bracket and play on Friday in a bronze medal semifinal.
