A pair of clean sheets in women's soccer as Week 4 wraps up
Offence was hard to come by on Sunday in women’s PACWEST soccer with both games ending in a scoreless tie.
VIU Mariners 0 – Douglas Royals 0
Teams are starting to wonder what they need to do to score a goal on Kaiden Thorpe who is turning in an incredible season for the Mariners. She made another three saves on Sunday to record her fifth clean sheet of the season and second in as many days.
Unfortunately for Thorpe, her offensive teammates also didn’t score in Sunday’s contest. They were stoned by Royals keeper Vanessa Chung who stood on her head, particularly in the first half making nine saves. The second half was considerably less busy as she had to make just one save, for 10 in total to record the clean sheet.
Langara Falcons 0 – Capilano Blues 0
Both teams were coming off losses after a Saturday setback and couldn’t find the back of the net during a Sunday matinee.
Falcons’ keeper Kate Bonozew was the busiest of the two keepers, making nine saves in total. Rachel Laakmann faced just one shot in the second half and made three saves in total in the Blues net.
