The Capilano Blues and the CapU Department of Athletics and Recreation are pleased to announce the hiring of Charlotte Ring as the new head coach of the Blues women’s soccer team.
Ring spent the 2024 season as an assistant coach with the Blues, helping them to a bronze medal at the CCAA National Championships hosted by the Blues at CapU Squamish. This experience, combined with her playing a coaching background, has her poised to step into the top job.
“Having worked with the group this past season, it’s given me a good sense of what our strengths are and where we need to get better,” said Ring. “I look forward to leading this team as head coach and putting my football philosophies in practice at this level.”
Her coaching background includes work with North Vancouver’s Altitude FC of BC League 1 as well as experience with North Vancouver FC youth teams. As a player, Ring spent the latter part of her youth career in Germany, playing a season in the U17 Bundesliga with FC Neubrandenburg 1904.
As a collegiate athlete, Ring played four seasons at NCAA Div. II Queens University of Charlotte in North Carolina where set all-time records for shots on goal and penalty kicks made and remains in the program’s top-10 in career goals scored.
Ring joined the Blues staff prior to the 2024 season and forged an immediate rapport with the players.
“I am extremely excited to have Charlotte take over the Blues women’s soccer program and lend not only her expertise but a different perspective,” said CapU Director of Athletics and Recreation Georgette Reed. “My experiences with Charlotte as an assistant coach were very positive and I envision her creating a competitive and supportive culture for Blues athletes on and off the pitch.”
Ring takes over a Blues team that finished the season strong with a medal result at CCAA Nationals after a 2-4-6 PACWEST regular season under head coach Dennis Kindel.
