Regular Season Finale
Women's PACWEST soccer closes the book at
Following the Thanksgiving bye, we enter the final weekend of the PACWEST regular season soccer schedule with plenty still on the line as three of the four schools advance to the championship tournament.
SATURDAY
Douglas Royals @ Langara Falcons – Saturday October 19, 12:00pm | WATCH HERE
The Royals and Falcons will play a home and home this weekend to finish off the schedule. Each team has beaten the other so far this season.
Coming into the weekend the Royals are in sole possession of second place, two points back of VIU for first overall in the standings. They need to take care of their own business and hope that the Mariners lose at home to be able to take over first place and ultimately get a bye into the gold medal game.
The Falcons are currently on the outside looking in at the postseason five points back of the final playoff spot. They are in a must win situation coming into the weekend and can’t afford any set backs. Offensively they will need to generate opportunities and find a way to score which has been tricky this year with only four goals.
These two teams will see each other again on Sunday but the venue will switch to Douglas.
Capilano Blues @ VIU Mariners – Saturday October 19, 12:30pm | WATCH HERE
This will be a very interesting weekend between the Mariners and Blues. In their previous weekend doubleheader at the end of September both games ended in a draw at Capilano.
Currently the Mariners have an eight-point lead over the Blues in the standings and are holding onto the top spot. They are at home this weekend where they are 4-0 this season, looking to continue that trend and clinch first place and a bye into the PACWEST gold medal game. Before Thanksgiving they dropped their first match of the season and collected a draw.
The Blues are five points up on the Langara Falcons for the final playoff spot in the standings. A win or a draw this weekend would clinch the final playoff spot. They come into this weekend after a pair of draws prior to Thanksgiving and haven’t won in three straight games. Their defence and keeper will need to be on point this weekend against the Mariners offence who leads the Conference in goals, while the Blues have given up the second most this regular season.
They will conclude the regular season on Sunday in the back half of the weekend doubleheader.
SUNDAY

It’s the final game of the regular season for these two teams after meeting on Saturday. Both schools are hoping to finish the campaign with a victory.
Capilano Blues @ VIU Mariners – Sunday October 20, 12:30pm | WATCH HERE
With both teams heading into the postseason, finishing with a win is important for the confidence of a club.
Regardless of what happens in PACWEST play the Blues know their season extends into November as the hosts of the CCAA national championship when they welcome the country to their Squamish campus from November 6-9, 2024. It’s the first time in school history the Blues will host the women’s national championship.
