SUNDAY
VIU Mariners 1
Douglas Royals 0
For the second straight day the Mariners and keeper Kaiden Thorpe earned a 1-0 shutout over the Royals and keep their unbeaten streak alive.
The Royals started the game strong and had some chances early but couldn’t solve Thorpe. On the other end, forward Jade Dillabough gave the hometown Mariners the lead in the 18th minute when she knocked in a rebound off a tough shot from Emma Riccardi. The goal would stand up as the game winner.
Thorpe had to be sharp and turned aside six shots for the clean sheet.
Capilano Blues 1
Langara Falcons 1
Both goals on Sunday were scored in the second half as the Blues and Falcons played to a 1-1 draw.
Maya Smith of the Blues opened the scoring in the 60th minute when she received a long leading pass. She was able to get it past the back line, then the keeper for her second of the weekend.
After getting shutout on Saturday, the Falcons were not going to allow that on Sunday. In the 70th minute a Falcons’ corner kick was deflected off the hands of the Blues keeper and back to Chrstine Wong who used a one-touch shot off the deflection and into the top corner of the net for the equalizer.
