Week 2 of the regular season is in the books
SATURDAY

VIU Mariners 1
It was a great defensive day for both teams limiting the offensive opportunities as both clubs scored a single goal in the first half and settled for a 1-1 tie.
The Royals took the lead in the 22nd minute when Pak Tung Tsang scored. The Mariners would then tie it during the extra time in the first half when Saki Meshida got the equalizer.
During the first half the Mariners controlled most of the play and had more opportunities, but the Royals keeper Vanessa Chung stood tall and made seven saves. She only needed to make one the rest of the way.
Capilano Blues 5
Langara Falcons 0
Michaela Salvino scored twice to lead the Blues to a lopsided win on Saturday spoiling the Falcons home opener. The Blues also got goals from Sophie Pather, Sasha Faris and veteran Maya Smith.
Keeper Amaya Salvino earned the clean sheet.
SUNDAY

Langara Falcons 0
The Royals offence came alive on Sunday. After scoring just once on Saturday they erupted for five on Sunday on the road at Langara. Three of their five goals were scored in the second half. Isabelle Dobbin was brilliant recording a hattrick and Emma Saran and Katie Buckle each added a single.
Keeper Vanessa Chung was solid making five saves and recorded the clean sheet.
VIU Mariners 2
Capilano Blues 2
An exciting back and forth game on Sunday between the Blues and Mariners that resulted in a 2-2 tie.
The Mariners opened the scoring when Emma Thornton scored in the 8th minute. The score remained that way until late in the first half when Amelia Mori tallied her first of the season in the 43rd minute and the teams went into halftime tied at one.
Just a minute into the second half off a corner kick, Alexis King gave the Blues their first lead of the game with a scrambly play in front of the net.
The Mariners continued to play hard and were rewarded when Hannah Wagner scored her first of the season in the 61st minute to tie it.
Both keepers were solid with Amaya Salvino a bit busier making eight saves while Mariners keeper Mckenna Brown turned away three shots.
