The Douglas Royals and VIU Mariners sweep the weekend
SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 7
VIU Mariners 5
Langara Falcons 1
The Mariners exploded for five goals on eight shots on Saturday winning their first game of the year. Brianna Naduzzi scored a pair, her second in the 54th minute would be the game winner. Jade Dillabough and Maggie Thurbide added a single each and the other marker was credited as a Langara own goal on a deflection shot by Aynsley Norman of the Mariners.
The lone Falcons goal was scored by Christie Wong with time winding down in the 84th minute.

Capilano Blues 0
The defending champs got their first win of the campaign, blanking the Blues on Saturday. Anna Klaver-Valdez scored both goals, one in each half, which made the difference. Her first, was the game winner and was in the 31st minute, then added some insurance in the 88th minute to secure the win.
Keeper Vanessa Chung made four saves to claim the clean sheet.
SUNDAY September 8

Capilano Blues 1
The defending PACWEST champs earned a weekend sweep over the Blues playing their first game at home since winning the Conference gold medal last season.
Second year player Ashlynn Grim opened the scoring on Sunday afternoon in the 12th minute, giving the Royals the lead.
Just a few minutes before halftime the Blues would tie it scoring their first goal of the season. Alex Roed found the back of the net in the 41st minute and sent the game into the break tied at one.
In the 55th minute the Royals would retake the lead for good when rookie Ava Tudhope scored her first career PACWEST goal which would turn out to be the game winner.
Keeper Vanessa Chung made four saves in the victory picking up her second straight win.
VIU Mariners 2
Langara Falcons 0
The Mariners completed the weekend sweep on Sunday scoring a pair of first half goals then controlled the play in the second half en route to the victory.
The first goal came in the 38th minute when Courtney Ingram tallied her first of the season, which would turn out to be the game winner. They would add a second before halftime in the 43rd minute when Tori Hauptman scored her first.
The Mariners used both keepers to earn the clean sheet as Kaiden Thorpe and McKenna Brown closed the door in the victory combining for eight saves.
