Blues Meet Cheetahs in Semi
The Capilano Blues will face the Vanier Cheetahs at the Nationals
The Capilano Blues women’s soccer team continues their goal for gold in Ontario at 12:00pm today when they face the Vanier Cheetahs at the CCAA national championship semi-final.
Both teams are coming off seven goal performance on Wednesday in their quarterfinal victories. The Blues blasted the Fanshawe Falcons 7-1, scoring all seven in the first half. Kayla Campbell, Catrina Olstrom and Taylor Colby each scored twice in the contest and keeper Sabrina Lam was solid when called upon.
The Cheetahs shutout the Holland Hurricanes in their win scoring four in the first, then three in the second half. They had six different goal scorers while Kristina Syragakis scored a pair. Their keeper was not tested facing just one shot. She will no doubt be busier today against the Blues offence.
Coming into the championship tournament the Cheetahs are the wildcard team from the RESQ despite an incredible regular season finishing 9-0-1. Their only loss was in the Conference title game falling to the defending CCAA champion Dynamiques de Sainte-Foy in penalty kicks. Their top player is Latifah Abdu who was named the RESQ Player of the Year.
