The PACWEST opens Week 2 of the season on Saturday when the defending champion Mariners host the Royals at Merle Logan in the first of back-to-back weekend games for both schools. The Mariners are coming on a 5-0 shutout of the Langara Falcons on Sunday in their home opener. Jordan King scored twice in the victory, both courtesy of the penalty kick. Keeper Melanie Osborne made two saves on route to the win.
The Royals played twice last weekend also beating the Falcons and then playing to a 2-2 tie against the Capilano Blues. Alicia Skirzyk scored two goals including the game winner on Saturday and was named the PACWEST Athlete of the Week.
During their four meetings in 2019 the Mariners won twice and the teams also tied twice.
Langara Falcons (0-2) @ Capilano Blues (0-0-1) – Lillooet Park – 1:00pm | WATCH HERE
This will be the first game the Blues will host at Lillooet Park this season following last weekend’s cancellation due to the poor field conditions after a massive rain storm.
The lone game the Blues played was at Douglas as they played to a 2-2 tie. Both Catrina Olstrom and Layla Campbell each scored.
Last weekend the Falcons offence struggled to get on track scoring just once in two games. Cassidy Kwan was able to find the back of the net in their home opener.
In their four games back in 2019 both the Blues and Falcons each won twice.
