PACWEST Women's Soccer Recap
An exciting Rainbow Laces weekend in the PACWEST
SATURDAY
Langara Falcons 1
Douglas Royals 0
Saturday afternoon the Royals and Falcons defences were stifling not allowing many quality offensive opportunities. Of the two teams the Royals had the better chances but Sierra Grieco was a wall stopping all seven shots directed her way.
It wasn’t until the 64th minute that the Falcons grabbed the lead off the boot of Giulia Repole and her third of the season, sending it past Alexa Gazzola. The goal would stand as the game winner.
VIU Mariners 3
Capilano Blues 1
The Mariners jumped on the Blues early with a pair of goals from Chloe Gummer within seconds of each other in the eighth minute. Then in the 23rd minute the Mariners added to their first half lead when Justine McMahon found the back of the net.
In the second half the Blues tried to mount a comeback. Brooklynn Doucette got the Blues on the board in the 49th minute, but that’s as close as they would come despite directing nine shots on net. Mariners’ keepers Melanie Osborne and Cassidy Chamberlin combined for the victory making eight saves.
SUNDAY

In the 49th Holly Ruffalls gave the Blues a 2-0 lead before Brooklynn Doucette scored her second in as many days in the 62nd minute putting the game out of reach.
The Falcons finally got on the board in the 73rd minute when Violet Bacon sent a ball past keeper Nikki Gerbrandt who had to make four saves on the afternoon.
