The Bearcats extended their win streak to 16 after a rare Thursday night victory as the PACWEST basketball schedule tipped off Week 13.
The win is also is one step closer in clinching second place in the standings and ultimately a bye into the PACWEST semi-final with one game to go on their schedule. They are now six points up on the Royals for the second seed and own the seasonal series 2-1. The Royals however have two games in hand. If the Bearcats beat the Royals on Saturday, they will clinch the second seed.
Thursday night the Bearcats shot 40% from the field and were led by a sparkling performance from Elissa Vreugdenhil (pictured) who scored a game high 17 points and pulled down 15 rebounds along with three assists and two steals. Kagari Tomita chipped in with 16 points and AJ Sobotta came off the bench to add 14.
The Royals played a tough road game but couldn’t knockdown the timely shot or get a stop on the defensive side when they really needed to. They shot 33% from the field with Lauren Clements leading the way with 14 points and 12 boards while Mackenzie Dalphond was great on the glass adding 14 rebounds.
These two teams will play again on Saturday night at 6:00pm, a Bearcats win clinches the second seed, with the Royals needing to win big and win outright be considered for the second seed.
