Women's Friday Night Hoops Recap
Three lopsided finals on Friday night in women's basketball
VIU Mariners 67
Capilano Blues 41
Both teams struggled to find rhythm on Friday, but at the final buzzer, the Mariners did just enough to capture their 18th win of the campaign.
The Mariners shot out to a 22-4 lead after the first quarter. In the second it was a bit more even as the Mariners headed into halftime with a 38-16 advantage.
After some second half adjustments the Blues came out of the break on fire and outscored the home side 20-8, before being outscored 21-5 in the final frame.
Overall, the Mariners shot 41% and were led by Harriette Mackenzie, the only player to reach double figures with 21 points and 12 rebounds.
The Blues struggled offensively shooting 27% from the field in this one and only 12% from the three-point line. Madeleine Coffin led her club with 15 points.

CBC Bearcats 107
Okanagan Coyotes 67
The Bearcats were on fire on Friday night shooting 52% from the field and knocked down 13 three pointes en route to the lopsided victory.
Offensively, all but one player on their roster hit the scoresheet with Madeline Beerwald dropping a team high 20 points while Kagari Tomita earned a triple-double of 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
The Coyotes didn’t find many easy baskets against the Bearcats defence and shot 30% from the field. Faith Hunter was a bright spot, dropping in a game high 25 points.
These teams will meet for the final time this season at 1:00pm on Saturday afternoon. WATCH HERE.

Camosun Chargers 53
The Royals kept pace in the PACWEST standings with their 14th win of the year, a lopsided road win at Camosun.
As a team they host 40.5% from field while their stifling defence forced 36 turnovers and held the Chargers to 27% shooting.

There wasn’t much to cheer about for the Chargers on the offensive side other than Kanda Diop who finished with 17 points and 18 rebounds.
