The Mariners, Royals and Bearcats win on Saturday

The top ranked Mariners once again flexed their muscle on Saturday afternoon downing the Coyotes to earn a weekend sweep. They shot 43.5% from the field and knocked down an impressive 16-three pointers.
On the offensive side Harriette Mackenzie led the charge with 22 points and 13 rebounds while Allison Bentley came off the bench for 18 points. In all, six players hit the double-digit plateau and everyone on the roster scored at least one basket.
The Coyotes found it difficult to answer the Mariners onslaught shooting only 29%. Three of their five starters were the main focus including Jasmine Montgomery-Reid who compiled a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Next weekend the Mariners (15-1) visit the Douglas Royals (13-3) as the top two teams meet for the final time in the regular season. The Coyotes (3-15) will enjoy a bye week.

The Royals collected a 35-point second quarter en route to their 13th win of the campaign.
Offensively 10 different scores hit the scoresheet as they shot 39% from the field and Avnoor Waraich led the way with a game high 22 points on 9-14 shooting. Karishma Rai chipped in with 13 points off the bench. Speaking of the bench, the Royals had tremendous production from their reserves to the tune of 35 of their 89 points.
The Blues shot the ball well at 39% but couldn’t dig out of the second quarter hole. Mia Parkin tallied a team high 21-points and Madeleine Coffin added 17.
Next week the Royals (13-3) welcome the VIU Mariners (15-1) in a battle of the top two teams in the Conference and the Blues (7-9) will try and bounce back when they host the Langara Falcons (5-13) for a doubleheader.

The Bearcats earned a weekend sweep on Saturday evening following a big second quarter where they outscored the hometown Falcons 27-14 en route to a 20-point win.
On the offensive side they shot 43% getting production from up and down the lineup. Elissa Vreugdenhil was solid with 12 points and a game-high 17 rebounds and guard Kagari Tomita added 15 points.
The Falcons fell for the second straight game, shooting 31% from the field. Amy Rokosh was their leading scorer with 12 points.
Next weekend the Bearcats (13-3) welcome the Camosun Chargers (2-14) and the Falcons (5-13) visit Capilano Blues (7-9).
