the Mariners, Royals and Bearcats each claim Friday night wins
VIU Mariners 93
Okanagan Coyotes 48
The top ranked Mariners made quick work of the Coyotes setting the tone early outscoring them 29-10 in the first quarter and cruised to the lopsided win.
As a team offensively they shot 39% from the field and knocked down 11-three pointers. Harriette Mackenzie led the way with a game high 26 points and pulled down 17 rebounds while Makayla Kimble added 14 points. Each player on the Mariners roster scored at least one bucket.
The Coyotes had no answer for the Mariners high-powered offence and often looked unorganized resulting in 25 turnovers. They played with only seven players dressed and Faith Hunter had a solid game with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Douglas Royals 78
Capilano Blues 61
The Royals continue to roll and won their eighth straight game on Friday night beating the visiting Blues pulling away in the fourth quarter outscoring them 23-12.
Offensively the Royals saw production up and down the line up shooting 38% from the field. Lauren Clements was her team’s leading scorer with 23 points and Mackenzie Dalphond came off the bench to drop 16 in 23 minutes of court time.
The Blues shot 30% from the field and found it difficult to match scoring punches with the Royals. Barcha Hnizdilova had a nice game with 13 points and 12 boards and Madeleine Coffin added 13 of her own. They have now dropped three in a row and fall under the 500 mark for the first time since losing their first game of the season.

CBC Bearcats 64
Langara Falcons 61
This game came right down to the wire, but in the end the Bearcats held on for their 12th win of the season with a three-point victory at Langara. The Falcons had a late surge, outscoring the visitors 25-15 in final frame but it still wasn’t enough as they came up just short.
The Bearcats shot 39% from the field with three of their five starters reaching the double figure plateau. The reigning Athlete of the Week Kagari Tomita scored a game high 16 points on 6-19 shooting to lead the way.
On the other side the Falcons also shot 39% from the field and Nyssa Sinner led her club with 15 points and Katelyn Lafleur had 12.
The rematch is set for 5:00pm on Saturday afternoon as the schools meet for the final time this regular season. | WATCH HERE
