Next weekend the Mariners (13-1) will visit the Okanagan Coyotes (3-13) and the Chargers (2-14) enjoy a bye week.
Successful Roady
The CBC Bearcats got it done on the road this weekend, going into Capilano to sweep the Blues over the weekend.
Friday night they won three of the four quarters to claw the Blues 92-79 behind the hot shooting of 49% from the field. Four players had double figures led by Kagari Tomita and her game high 23 points.
The Blues offence also shot the ball well at 41% but couldn’t get the key stops when they needed them. Mia Parkin led their scoring with 21 points.
Saturday’s rematch was closer, but the Bearcats closed out the weekend winning 85-74. Tomita again dominated scoring with a game high 32 points, 11 of which came from the free-throw line. As a team they shot 36.5% and captured their ninth game in a row.
For the second straight game the Blues shot 41% but couldn’t match Tomita. On their offensive side Parkin led the scoring again with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Next weekend the Bearcats (11-3) visit the Langara Falcons (5-11) and the Blues (7-7) look to stop their two-game slide and meet the Royals (11-3) at Douglas.
Falcons Flying High
The hometown Falcons recorded a weekend sweep over the visiting the Okanagan Coyotes as both teams fight for playoff positioning.

The Coyotes counted with 18-points from Jasmine Montgomery-Reid but it wasn’t enough. As a team they shot 40.5% from the field.
Saturday’s rematch was determined in the first quarter as the Falcons outscored the Coyotes 22-10 and went onto win 75-62 to record the sweep.
They shot 37% from the field and had balanced scoring as everyone on the roster hit the scoresheet led by the 22 points from Nyssa Sunner who nailed six-three pointers.
The Coyotes dug themselves into a deep hole in the first quarter that they couldn’t fight out of. They shot 32% and Faith Hunter led the way with 18-points and 11 boards.
