The Blues, Mariners and Royals claim a Saturday victory

The Blues recorded the blowout victory on Saturday afternoon, winning their ninth of the season and remain with a share of the lead in the standings.
They used outstanding defence forcing 24 turnovers and collected 17 steals. Over on the offensive side they shot 47% paced by Ida Jonsson Ojala for the second straight game as she collected 18 points. Mackenzie Smith played a major role with 11 points and 12 rebounds and Madeleine Coffin came off the bench to add 14 points.
The Chargers have lost four straight and are searching for answers after another lopsided loss. They shot 27% with only Tegan Michel scoring in the double-digits finishing with 13 points. They were ice cold from downtown connecting on just three out of 22 attempts.
Next weekend the Blues (9-1) visit the Langara Falcons (2-8) while the Chargers (5-7) enjoy a bye weekend.

The Mariners exploded in the first quarter outscoring the Falcons 32-10 and cruised to their ninth win of the season. Overall, they shot 38% and 43% from behind the arc. Ranika Guyton was outstanding with 20 points which included four from downtown.
The Falcons dug themselves into a giant hole after the first quarter and couldn’t dig out of it. Claire Huang put together a nice game of 15 points and eight rebounds. As a club they shot 30%.
Next week the Mariners (9-1) will host the CBC Bearcats (0-10) in back-to-back games and the Falcons (2-8) host the Capilano Blues (9-1).

For the second straight night the Royals had a major outpouring of offence scoring 95 points, shooting 47%. Laini Glover had her best game of the season with 21 points and 11 rebounds and Karalee Antoine added 20 points.
The Bearcats committed 33 turnovers that didn’t help their cause. They shot 28% with Ashyana Kumar the only player in double-digits scoring 16 points which included nailing four-three pointers.
Next week the Royals (7-5) host the Okanagan Coyotes (5-5) and the Bearcats (0-10) begin a six-game road trip when they visit the VIU Mariners (9-1).
