Okanagan Coyotes vs. MSVU Mystics – Friday March 25, 3:00pm | WATCH HERE
The Coyotes will play their first ever game on the national stage when they face the ACAA champion MSVU Mystics on Friday afternoon in Nanaimo.
It will no doubt be a game full of nerves on both sides. As the Coyotes make their first appearance the Mystics are making their third straight trip to the nationals but have left empty handed. In 2019 they didn’t win a game, while in 2018 they lost fighting for the bronze medal.
The Coyotes are in this tournament after upsetting the top ranked VIU Mariners to win PACWEST gold at the beginning of the month. They won three games in three days, the first was the program’s first ever playoff victory. Jordan Kemper was named the tournament MVP and an All-Canadian and will need to be a major factor this weekend at the nationals.
The Mystics were the top team in the ACAA all year finishing the season at 9-2. Fourth year player Keley Crocker was named an All-Canadian on Wednesday after leading the Conference in scoring averaging 19.2 a game shooting 52% from the field.
The winner will play in a semi-final tomorrow while the loser will play in a bronze medal quarterfinal.
