Friday night the Mariners, Blues and Royals each win
VIU Mariners @ Camosun Chargers - Saturday November 6, 6:00pm | WATCH HERE
The defending PACWEST champion Mariners shot out of the gate outscoring the Chargers 20-3 in the first quarter and never looked back. The Mariners cruised to a 79-50 victory to open the season.
Veteran guard Amber Lease had a game high 17 points and Sydney Fetterly added 12 as the Mariners shot 34% from the field.
The shell shocked Chargers did bounce back in the second quarter and can build on that heading into Saturday’s rematch. Tamiya Ness was the lone player to break into the double-digits in points finishing with 11.
Douglas Royals @ Langara Falcons – Saturday November 6, 6:00pm | WATCH HERE
The closest game of the night was in Langara where the visiting Royals scored a 71-62 victory, their first of the season. They shot 36% from the field led by Laini Glover who had a wonderful game of 31 points and 15 boards. Jenessa Knapp added 20 points coming off the bench.
The Falcons on Friday night saw their starters keep the game close when Rachel Labrador scored 13 and Jayna Wilson droppeed in 12.
CBC Bearcats @ Capilano Blues – Saturday November 6, 6:00pm | WATCH HERE
After a Blues lopsided win on Friday the two teams match-up again on Saturday night. The Blues were outstanding shooting 51% from the field and had five players in double-digits, led by the 15 from Kirsten Abo and 12 from Cassandra Brinn. The Blues win their second of the year after a 91-52 victory.
Rookie Ryann Lee scored a game high 20 points to lead the visiting Bearcats and Samantha Leyenhorst recorded an 11 point, 12 rebound double-double.
