History was made again as the COTR Avalanche win their first CCAA medal

The Avalanche captured the school’s first ever CCAA medal on Saturday with a four-set victory over the ACAA champion Dragons to win bronze.
In the first set, the Dragons came out flying and dominated the Avalanche with a 25-15 victory. In the second, however, the Avalanche came alive and evened the match with a 25-19 win, then used extra points in the third to win 27-25 and had all the momentum. In the fourth set, the Avalanche made no mistake and ended the contest with a 25-21 victory to secure the hardware.
Offensively setter Boston Thiessen used several weapons to keep the Dragons defence guessing. He collected 38 assists with Diego Policarpo, Noah Hadwen and Albert Francisco each collecting 10 kills. Luke Margenau added nine to help the scoring and Jhet Bowen came through with five. Policarpo was terrific from the service line, recording five aces and libero Reece Clark kept plays alive with 12 digs.
Hadwen was named the Player of the Match.
