Avalanche Play for Bronze
The COTR Avalanche will try and tame the Dragons in the CCAA bronze medal match
COTR Avalanche vs. Dragons de Sainte-Anne – Saturday March 8, 3:00pm MST | BRONZE MEDAL
The Avalanche will play for their first national medal on Saturday when they face the ACAA Conference champion Dragons from Nova Scotia.
Friday evening the Avalanche advanced to this bronze medal match after making quick wok of the CMU Blazers from Manitoba, beating them in straight sets 25-19, 25-23 and 25-20. Diego Policarpo was simply awesome with 18 kills, two aces and four digs in the win, named Player of the Match.
For the Dragons, this will be the second PACWEST school they meet after the Douglas Royals beat them in four sets on the opening night of the tournament. Like the Avalanche, the Dragons have won two straight to get into this match, beating the Griffons de l’Outaouais on Thursday, then took down the Humber Hawks in four on Friday. The Hawks beat the Avalanche on the opening night of play.
The Avalanche will need a big match from Policarpo along with secondary scoring to beat the Dragons who finished 18-2 during the regular season.
Neither program has ever won a national medal.
