VIU Mariners 3

Saturday afternoon the Royals continued to play with confidence in the first set after winning a thrilling five-set match on Friday and beat the Mariners 25-23.
In the second set, the Mariners started to move that momentum on their side of the net and captured a 25-19 win to even the match. There was more of the same in the third as the Mariners took advantage with a 25-22 win before finishing off the home side 25-23 in the fourth set for their 12th win of the season.
Next weekend the Mariners (12-6) visit the Capilano Blues (4-14) and the Royals (10-8) meet the COTR Avalanche (14-4) in Cranbrook.
CBC Bearcats 3
Capilano Blues 1
After losing a heartbreaking five-set thriller on Friday, the Bearcats bounced back nicely on Saturday to beat the hometown Blues in four sets.
They opened the match with a solid 25-20 victory, then followed that up with a 25-21 win taking advantage in the match.
The Blues showed some life in the third set, taking down the Bearcats and extending the match with a 27-25 victory. However, that momentum didn’t last long, and the Bearcats came right back with a 25-22 win to capture the match to split the weekend.
Next week the Bearcats will welcome the Camosun Chargers (10-8) in the regular season finale and the Blues (4-14) entertain the VIU Mariners (12-6).
