Week 12 Men's Volleyball Preview
Four schools will see action this weekend as the end of the season looms
VIU Mariners @ Douglas Royals – Friday February 7, 8:00pm | WATCH HERE
The top of the PACWEST men’s volleyball standings are extremely tight and this doubleheader weekend between the Mariners and Royals could determine playoff positioning.
The Mariners are coming off thrilling back-to-back five set wins over the previously unbeaten COTR Avalanche last weekend and will look to ride that momentum. They have won eight in a row but will finish the regular season on the road before hosting the PACWEST championship tournament in two weeks. Their current eight match winning streak began with a weekend doubleheader sweep over the Royals in late November.
Since turning the calendar to the new year, the Royals have hit their stride and have won six in a row and currently hold down the fourth and final playoff spot in the standings, but are only four points back of the Mariners for the second seed. They have clinched a playoff spot already, but are still fighting for positioning.
These two teams will meet again on Saturday at 3:00pm.
CBC Bearcats @ Capilano Blues – Friday February 7, 8:00pm | WATCH HERE
The Blues and Bearcats are playing for pride this weekend as both schools have been eliminated from postseason play.
They currently have identical 3-13 records and are 12-points out of the final playoff spot with four matches to go in the regular season. They last met at the beginning of November at CBC with the Blues earning the weekend sweep in four and five sets respectively.
The Blues are at home for their final four matches and are coming off a split in their last match with the visiting Camosun Chargers.
The Bearcats have struggled since the calendar turned and have lost all six matches they played in here in 2025. They are looking to turn things around to close out the year with four matches remaining on their schedule.
Saturday night these two schools meet again for the final time this year at 7:00pm.
