Camosun Chargers 3
COTR Avalanche 0
It was a tough road swing to the island for the top ranked Avalanche losing all four matches this weekend including getting swept by the hometown Chargers on Sunday afternoon.
The Chargers played their final match at home this weekend and gave the hometown fans something to cheer about winning in straight sets; 26-24, 25-21 and 25-18.
The win was their third in four matches and 10th overall moving them to within two-points of the second place and idle VIU Mariners. They also build a two-point lead on the Douglas Royals, chasing them in the standings, in fourth place.
On the other side, the Avalanche head home trying to figure out what happened on this road swing in which they didn’t record a win. They remain in first place in the standings, but only six points up on the Mariners who suddenly have two matches in hand with two weeks to go in the season.
Next weekend both the Chargers (10-8) and Avalanche (14-4) enjoy a bye week.
