Men's Volleyball - Saturday Recap
The Royals and Blues each record a dub
Capilano Blues 3
Camosun Chargers 2
Saturday afternoon the Blues snapped their seven-game losing streak with an impressive five-set win over the visiting Chargers.
In the first set the Chargers would try and set the tone with a 25-20 victory before the Blues bounced right back, taking the second-set 25-18 to even the match. Unphased the Chargers earned a 25-16 win in the third to retake the advantage. However, unlike Friday, the Blues found a way to rally.
In the fourth set they battled and showed the Chargers they were not quitting and earned a 25-18 win to force a fifth and deciding set.
The teams traded points back-and-forth in the fifth set until the Blues somehow found another gear and took down the Chargers 17-15 to capture their third win of the season in front of a very pro-Blue crowd at Capilano.
Next weekend the Blues (3-13) will enjoy a bye week after their hard fought win, while the Chargers (8-8) look to rebound against the top team in the country, when they host the COTR Avalanche (14-0).
Douglas Royals 3
CBC Bearcats 0
The Royals kept their momentum going from Friday night and swept the Bearcats on Saturday in Abbotsford.
Friday night, the Royals fell behind 2-0 before roaring back to win 3-2 in five sets and kept their hot play on Saturday earning a traditional sweep by scores of 25-17, 25-18 and 25-21 for their ninth win of the campaign.
Next weekend, both the Royals (9-7) and Bearcats (3-13) will enjoy a bye week.
