There isn’t a school that has a tougher schedule than the COTR Avalanche, particularly coming into Week 11 of the regular season. The top team in the CCAA will play four matches in four days on the island making stops at VIU and Camosun beginning on Thursday night.
The Avalanche (14-0) make their first stop of the weekend at VIU to face the second place Mariners on Thursday and Friday before making their way to Camosun on Saturday and Sunday to visit the fourth-place Chargers.
In their first match-up back in October the Avalanche swept the Mariners at COTR, but the back half of the weekend doubleheader was a very tight five-setter as they needed to complete a reverse sweep after the Mariners had jumped out 2-0. They head to the island having already clinched a playoff spot and know they will be back at VIU for the PACWEST championship on February 21st. They will no doubt use their final six matches fine tuning their game, looking for a long playoff run.
The Mariners (9-5) are coming off a bye week and should be fully prepared for the Avalanche on Thursday and Friday. They have won six in a row and are at home for the final time before hosting the PACWEST championship tournament in a few weeks. They are 10 points behind the Avalanche for first in the standings, in second-place and two points up on the Chargers.
Friday evening at 6:00pm they will host the Avalanche again in their final meeting of the regular season.
