The Avalanche, Mariners and Royals each record a weekend sweep

Another weekend, and another doubleheader sweep by the top ranked Avalanche beating the visiting Bearcats in four sets on Saturday.
The Avalanche came out flying, winning the first two sets 25-17 and 25-13 keeping the Bearcats on their heels. The visitors did mount a push in the third set earning a 25-21 win and cutting the Avs lead in half. However, the top team in the country proved to be too much with a 25-22 win in the fourth set earning the Avalanche their 12th win in a row.
Next weekend the Avs (12-0) will put their undefeated record on the line and host the Capilano Blues (2-10) and the Bearcats (3-9) entertain the VIU Mariners (7-5).

The Mariners built momentum this weekend after a sweep of their island rivals with a four-set win on Saturday.
The home side won the first two sets 25-22 and 25-18 before the Chargers tried to push back. The visitors would take the third set 25-18 to cut the Mariner lead in half, however that’s as close as they would come.
In the fourth set the Mariners shutdown any hope of a Charger comeback with a 25-22 victory and collected their seventh win of the season and fourth in a row. The Chargers meanwhile lose their fourth straight and fall to 2-4 on the road.
Next weekend the Mariners (7-5) visit the CBC Bearcats (3-9) and the Chargers (7-5) welcome the Douglas Royals (5-7).

Capilano Blues 0
The hometown Royals made quick work of the Blues on Saturday with a three-set sweep for their fifth win of the season.
In the first set the Royals hammered the Blues 25-13 keeping them on their heels. The second set was much closer as the teams traded points and needed extras to determine the winner. In the end, the Royals won 26-24 before earning the sweep in the third claiming a 25-21 victory.
The Royals didn’t lose a set the entire weekend, taking out the brooms against the Blues.
Next weekend the Royals (5-7) visit the Camosun Chargers (7-5) and the Blues (2-10) make the trip to COTR to face the Avalanche (12-0).
