Chargers Win at Home
Coming off their first defeat of the season at the hands of the UFV Cascades last weekend, the Camosun Chargers were back at the familiar confines of the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence Friday night vs the visiting CBC Bearcats.
The Cats entered the weekend with an 0-14 record and where coming off a pair of loses themselves, to the VIU Mariners. While the Cats were looking for their first win of the season and the Chargers were looking to get back on track.
In Friday nights match, the Chargers once again put up points in the win column as they defeated the Cats 3-0 with sets of 25-14, 25-17, 25-16. Leading the way for Camosun were Tyler Remenda (9 kills, 1 block, 1 ace, 8 digs) and Gabriel Freund (10 kills, 1 block, 2 aces and 1 dig).
CBC's Ben Smith and Ryan Newman finished with 8 kills. Ben also produced three stuff blocks while Drew Harder lead the defense with 7 digs.
"As our team continues to battle each week we see many of our process goals being met." said CBC's coach Warkentin. "This was one of our better offensive displays of the year, yet our offense, which started sets really well, struggled near the end to produce any finish."
Both teams meet again Saturday afternoon at 3 pm.
