Blues pick up first league wins against Bearcats
Looking for their first league-game wins of the season, the CapU Blues Men's Volleyball team was at home this weekend for a pair of games against the visiting CBC Bearcats. Friday night gave the Blues their first PACWEST win after a strong team performance where the Blues were able to take the match in straight sets (25-14, 25-13, 25-15). Second-year Manitoba native, Brendan Cairns led the way with 11 kills, one block and two aces on the night.
Head coach Emmanuel Denguessi was impressed with his team's performance, "tonight was a team effort…there wasn't one guy, but rather the whole team that gave us the victory."
In a rematch of Friday night’s match-up, the Blues were able to pick up a 3-1 victory after coming back and winning the final two sets of the match (25-17, 23-25, 25-13, 25-19). After the match, Denguessi said he was proud of his team and that they displayed “strong character in the face of adversity.” Cairns led the way with 17 kills while fourth-year outside hitter, Victor Zych contributed 11 kills and four aces on the night.
