The standings are so tight, each point is at a premium this weekend
With the standings so tight in men’s PACWEST soccer, points are at a premium when all four schools take to the pitch this weekend for a pair of games.
SATURDAY
VIU Mariners @ Langara Falcons – Saturday October 5, 12:00pm | WATCH HERE
The Falcons host the Mariners at Simon Fraser University on Saturday at Terry Fox Field. It’s also the final meeting of the regular season between these two schools, the Falcons have won two of the previous three meetings.
Last week the Falcons spilt their weekend with Capilano and the Mariners lost and played to a draw with the Douglas Royals.
Five points separates these two in the standings making this match up extremely important for both teams.
Capilano Blues @ Douglas Royals – Saturday October 5, 3:30pm | WATCH HERE
For the final time in the regular season the Blues and Royals will battle. So far in the seasonal series the Blues have won two of the three meetings including a 1-0 win two weeks ago.
The Blues have won two of their last three games and are currently tied atop the PACWEST standings with 15 points. They have been an interesting team this season, scoring 10 goals, but have allowed 11.
Meanwhile the Royals are fighting for their playoff lives, currently three points back of the final playoff spot. Last weekend they showed signs of heating up with a win and draw at VIU.
SUNDAY
Langara Falcons @ Capilano Blues – Sunday October 6, 2:30pm | WATCH HERE
The scene will shift to the Capilano Squamish campus turf field for this tilt between the Blues and Falcons. It’s the final meeting of the regular season between these two teams that have all but clinched a playoff spot. In the seasonal series the Blues have won two of their three meetings but the teams split their doubleheader last weekend.
VIU Mariners @ Douglas Royals – Sunday October 6, 2:30pm | WATCH HERE
This is a hugely important match-up between the Mariners and Royals with both fighting for playoff positioning. They met last weekend in Nanaimo with the Royals winning once after the teams played to a draw the day before.
In the seasonal series each team has won once and they have played to a draw.
