A quick glace at the men's schedule from this past weekend
SATURDAY
VIU Mariners 2
Douglas Royals 1
The Mariners were successful in their first road game of the season downing the Royals on Saturday afternoon. After a scoreless first half the Mariners opened the scoring in the 48th minute when Kenneth Jolliffe found the back of the net. Charlie Smith then added to the lead in the 52nd minute, his second of the campaign.
With the Royals pressing in the late stages, Sepehr Irvani cut the lead in half with his first of the season in the 88th minute but that’s as close as they would come.
Capilano Blues 3
Langara Falcons 1
The Blues captured their second win of the season, downing the Falcons in their home opener on Saturday as they had a balanced attack.
Offensively Jeremy Monn-Djasngar, Tommy Millar and Sebastian Cirotto scored his Conference leading third goal for the Blues in the victory.
The lone Falcons marker came from Taynor Bashghareh, his first of the season.

VIU Mariners 1
The Blues earned a weekend sweep after scoring twice in the first half and holding off a late surge by the visiting Mariners.
Jeremy Monn-Djasngar opened the scoring just 47 seconds into the game to give the hometown Blues the lead, it would be his second in as many days. They would add to their lead at the 6th minute mark when Sebastian Cirotto scored his fourth of the season, which would hold up as the game winner.
The Mariners cut the lead in half when Charlie Smith scored in the 55th minute to bring his club to be within one, but that’s as close as they would come. For Smith, it would be his third of the season.
Langara Falcons 4
Douglas Royals 0
Sunday afternoon the Falcons scored a pair of goals in the first half and added two more in the second to record a lopsided shutout.
The Falcons had four different goal scorers who each found the back of the net in the victory. Taynour Bashghareh, Owen Holscher, Takeru Kaku, and Teigo Shimada scored for the home side earning them a weekend split. Keeper Adriel Agcaoili played the entire game and collected the clean sheet.
